scoops third top award in a row!

A Yorkshire commercial vehicle dealer group has won a national award for the excellent quality of the vans it supplies, and its first-class customer service.

VanStar, a family business with branches in Leeds and Wakefield, won the 'Used Commercial Vehicle Dealership' trophy at the 2025 Car Dealer Magazine Used Car Awards.

VanStar won the same award in 2023 and 2024 - and, not surprisingly, the team are delighted to have repeated their success for an incredible third time.

Jonathan Mcdonald, company director, said: ''We are thrilled to have won this award for the third year running - it's amazing! Bearing in mind the number of commercial vehicle dealerships there are in the UK, we are feeling incredibly proud. Credit must go to every single person employed in our business. We couldn't have done it without you.'

Asked to reveal the secret of the company's success, Jonathan said: ''It all comes down to hard work plus consistency and dedication. We did not expect to win this award for a third time but we have worked hard all year and couldn't be more delighted to get this recognition from Car Dealer Magazine.'

The judges had their work cut out in the 'Used Commercial Vehicle Dealership' category as there were plenty of businesses in contention, all offering a selection of high-quality vehicles to choose from.

James Baggott, editor-in-chief of Car Dealer Magazine, said: ''I'm almost running out of compliments for the team at VanStar. To win three Used Car Awards in the same category and for three years running must be extremely rare in the history of the awards, if not unique.

''As I have mentioned in previous years, selling used commercial vehicles can be challenging, but it can be a rewarding area of the motor trade if a dealer can hit upon a winning formula.'

Awards night compere, the TV host and automotive industry legend Mike Brewer, said: ''Very well done to VanStar on an incredible triumph! Their two sites continue to be very well-run operations, staffed by people who really do care about their customers and the vehicles they supply.

''The whole VanStar team have absolutely nailed it throughout the whole of 2025. Can they make it four wins in a row? We will find out in 12 months' time!'
